Why Dive With Us?
The answer is simple, because you want to be there as we discover the next amazing thing in Jagna, Bohol. Years ago, the people of Jagna decided to set-up marine protected areas with the sole purpose of replenishing their fish supply. Inadvertently, these marine protected areas allowed reef to grow and provided a place for fish to rest, eat and reproduce, creating a divers dream dive site. It is a prime example of an effective marine protected area exemplified by its abundance of rare and common fish, coral and invertebrates. Jagna is located off the beaten path yet still accessible to those who want a serious dive experience in a relatively untouched locale. With the chance to see everything from the smallest nudibranchs to the largest whale shark come diving with us and you will leave very satisfied.
What We Do.
We teach SCUBA diving and show our guests all that Jagna, Bohol has to offer. We also teach the local community how to SCUBA dive as well as provide free environmental lectures and activities to get our sea-dependent neighbors more involved with the environment. Our rational is simple, if the local community is able to see the natural wonders that Jagnaanons have in their waters, they will take measures to protect it. It could mean the difference in a child watching someone fish inside a marine protected area and a child getting the authorities to apprehend that same fisherman. If the marine protected areas are free from illegal fishing they will continue to provide food for the people of Jagna for generations to come as well as allow livelihood projects such as ours flourish. We hire local community members to take part in our SCUBA diving business as well as our research projects to gain experience as well as provide income.

"Jagna is the kind of place you want to tell everyone you know about and keep it a secret at the same time. I've had some of the best dives of my life there, and unlike with the operations that cater exclusively to hoards of foreign tourists, diving with Drift Divers always feels more like diving with old friends. Additionally, for all the eco-conscious travelers out there, the opportunity to support a dive operation with a serious commitment to sustainability and local involvement is one worth taking."
-Kristin E. Kuhn,
Diver and Conservationist
"Diving with Drift Divers was an amazing experience. The dive site in Jagna was beautiful and one of a kind and everyone at Drift Divers went above and beyond to help me. I had a very professional and patient instructor to teach me and make me feel more confident being in the water while diving. I am very happy I got my advanced open water certification with them. I would, and do, recommend Jagna Divers to everyone who wants the best diving experience."
How We Got Started.
Last year an American volunteer assigned in Jagna, Bohol began to develop eco-tourism. With a background in environmental science and a passion for SCUBA diving, he created an eco-friendly dive shop and research center. Now you can come join us as we further explore the natural beauty of Jagna in the pursuit of environmental conservation, and awareness.
Black Coral Research.
Our black coral research project will help us determine the density and distribution of this rare and endangered species of coral found in Jagna. It is also a once in a lifetime opportunity for divers to join one of our expeditions and gain hands on experience taking part in one of our scientific dives.
Marine Protected Area Survey Training.
This course is an intense two week period of studying and scientific diving. Upon completion of this training a student will be able to identify nearly all reef fish to the family level, and most of the common corals, marine algae and invertebrates seen in the central Indo- Pacific region. This course is very useful for students who are interested in pursuing a carrier in marine biology.
